By now no longer distinguish if you write an article, a book or on TV is a dirty word "can always escape", and nobody says anything (now no longer).

Facebook raises another 100 million

Three companies or three a crowd of Google to launch friend connect to Monday

Do not say good things come in three? Well, whatever, we have heard from multiple sources that Google will launch a new product Monday called "Connect friend", which will be a set of APIs for the Open social participants to pull the profile information from social networks in websites third.
MSN launched the availability of data Thursday, a product of competition. Yesterday, in a suspicion-time pre-release announcement, we heard Connect Facebook, another similar product (with a name almost identical to Google's Friend Connect).
As the availability of data and Facebook Connect, Google's Friend Connect will be a safe way to send personal profile data, including lists friend, presence / status information, etc., for third-party applications, say our sources. The reason these companies have are rushing to get products out the door, because those with a player in this space is likely that control of user data in the long run. If users do not need to place friend profile and information on multiple sites, which gravitate toward a site that is identified with, and then allow others to access sitiche data. The desire to own identity user in the long run is also the cause of large Internet companies, in my opinion, the race to become OpenID broadcasters (but not relying parties).
If what we feel is correct, the offer of Google can not be more interesting MySpace and Facebook. Google may be held to a higher realm of data, which require third parties to show that directly from Google's servers in an iframe. By contract, MySpace and Facebook are sending data through an API and trusting third parties not to abuse it (with strict terms of service in case the confidence that violate). Flexibility that also allows others to do more with the data, including combination with their data before displaying it.
We will have to wait until Monday for details accurate, though. But what is clear is that Google wants to get between social networks and websites who want to access their data. By controlling the flow through open social friend and the new Connect product may actually become a big social network without having a, well, social network (unless you count Orkut).
Google was for partners to tend to announce Monday as well. So far, our understanding is that they have their Orkut, and Plaxo. Compare that to MySpace (Yahoo, eBay and Twitter, in addition to their Photobucket) and Facebook, which announced Digg as a partner.
Another limiting factor to Google's product is that, unlike MySpace and Facebook, not control user profiles for tens of millions of active users. Which means that will quickly need major partners on board as well. It MySpace help? They can - MySpace is already part of Open social and said Thursday that they adopt open social initiatives in this area once they are defined. We will see.

Spotplex suffers identity crisis stumbles in deadpool

We have introduced Spotplex in February 2007 as a potential Digg killer who served popular stories tracking how many people read them. Somewhere along the way, it also turned into an Alexa-like analytics service. Unfortunately, neither market prepared for them and were forced to close their doors.
Digg service style used JavaScript that was incorporated in the pages participants to track how many times were beds, and top-bed seats were highlighted by Spotplex's homepage. The service has set itself apart from Digg requiring any intervention on the reader by promoting a page. On the other hand, Spotplex registered strikes only on blogs that had rmedded Javascript snippets, which severely restricted its sources of content.
Spotplex JavaScript embeds were also used to offer an analytics service that was designed to contend with sites like Alexa and compete. While the addition of this service has marked a transition to a market very different, both Spotplex services leverage the same backend.
CEO Doyon Kim says that the company's final failure was a lack of adequate funding. The company has underestimated the resources that were needed to build and maintain its service, and has neglected to seek funding from venture after its $ 450000 seed round. This is surprising Kim experience in the field: co-founder of DialPad, which was acquired by Yahoo in 2005.

A class at MIT built some mobile applications for Google Android operating system and presented today. CrunchGear its superblogger Doug Aamoth reports on the seven applications-Loco, Flare, GeoLife, Re: public, local, Kei, and the snap-that he saw.
