After the Oscars, I was too lazy to blog, but because Shiela blogged about it-and she can be such an influential woman sometimes-here I am.

I just have a couple of things to say…

Disney's "Enchanted" had three entries for Best Original Song out of the five nominated and they did not win.

Amy Adams got to sing "Happy Working Song" all by herself onstage. It's supposed to be a "happy" song. She really did not have to sing it all alone…

And who's the girl who sang "That's How You Know"? Why her? She was not even in the movie! O_O

I guess Oscar was not friendly to Disney's babies this year.

ARGH My thoughts exactly. It would have been much better if Amy Adams had some people with her on stage, even if it was not pigeons and mice. The species of her "little friends" were not included in the lyrics, anyway, so it could well have been kids… Or kids in "vermin" costumes or something. Ah, but I guess they put most of their efforts on choreography That's How You Know.

About That's How You Know: Amy Adams should have been the one to sing it! Although it was nice that she danced in So Close, but you can get anybody else to dance. And, okay, maybe they did not want Amy Adams to lose her voice because she was going to be one of the presentors… But still-!

The girl who sang in That's How You Know did not do justice to the song. It's not that she's not a good singer, but she is just not Giselle. And she was slouching. Princesses do not slouch. Rawr.

And I wanted SO That's How You Know (or So Close) to win for Best Original song. Falling Slowly has lovely lyrics and nice melodies, too, but… * sigh *

And was it just me, or did the sounds weird go several times into the show? - _ -

Anyway. Let's move on to positive thoughts.

Glen Hansard's guitar rocks! Haha! I love the "very, very, VERY used" look to it. Heehee.

Jon Stewart was an awesome host. I loved his punchlines. His opening monologue rocked!

You know another way they could show respect for the writers? Uh, maybe one day invite some of them to the Vanity Fair Oscar party. They would enjoy it.

Ah, but my most favorite shares would be from Scott Rudin, the producer of No Country for Old Men, when accepting the award for Best Film.

Pakistan brings YouTube down

Youtube, we have a problem.

Imagine waking up on a Monday and finding your favourite YouTube videos can’t be loaded. Some will curse, some will just get ready for work. For me, it was a real pissed off. The only reason why this happened was Pakistan or more specifically the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority ordered 70 Internet service providers to block access to YouTube.com, because of anti-Islamic movies on the video-sharing site. Pakistan was not pleased with the trailer for an upcoming film by Dutch lawmaker Geert Wilders portraying Islam as fascist. Its a big wonder why Pakistan was the only country that did this. The root cause of the problem started when PCCW Ltd. of Hong Kong (one of the world’s 20 largest data carriers) made changes in it switches’ routing table and started directing requests from its global customers for YouTube data to Pakistan, where the data was discarded. Now that was a real dumb move by PCCW.

The block was intended to cover only Pakistan, but extended to about two-thirds of the global Internet population, starting at 1:47 pm EST Sunday, according to Renesys Corp., a Manchester, NH, firm that keeps track of the pathways of the Internet for telecommunications companies and other clients.
