Il GPS su cellulari per chi non ha il GPS: Google Maps My Location

Chiunque abbia usato una Google Maps per cellulari sa quanto sia utile avere a disposizione informazioni locali on the road.

Il problema però è che al momento sono ancora troppo pochi i dispositivi che supportano il GPS .

E così oggi zio Google, essendo in vena di regali (vedi gli ultimi post su: Cartina fisica in Google Maps , Collaborazione in My maps e Importazione di Kml in My Maps ) … d’altra parte è quasi Natale… ha lanciato una nuova versione di Google Maps per cellulari con una tecnologia ancora in beta chiamata My Location .

Basta premere "0": se il tuo cellulare è dotato di GPS, il punto blu corrisponde alla tua posizione GPS . Altrimenti, il punto blu appare circondato da un alone azzurro (come in figura) che indica un certo livello di incertezza sulla tua posizione.

L’incertezza dipende dal fatto che  "My Location" si basa sulle informazioni ricevute dalle torri di trasmissione vicine a dove sei per stabilire in modo approssimativo la tua attuale posizione.

Il servizio, disponibile per buona parte dei cellulari abilitati alla navigazione web, inclusi dispositivi Java, Blackberry , Windows Mobile e Nokia/Symbian . Il servizio è ancora in beta; per saperne di più:

Il dispositivo spagnolo è particolarmente intuitivo, in quanto consente all’utente di adottare un ritmo flessibile e personalizzabile, tenendo anche conto di eventuali pause necessarie. Le caratteristiche originali includono il convertitore di elettronica di potenza, progettato appositamente per ridurre i tempi di ricarica e mantenere il flusso di energia a un livello costante.

Verranno riconosciuti i meriti anche dei secondi classificati, ossia il Politecnico di Milano e l’Università della Tecnologia di Delft (Paesi Bassi).

Il team italiano ha concepito un sistema originale per alimentare un notebook con pile a combustibile di idrogeno, una soluzione particolarmente interessante per la sua durata e per essere ecocompatibile. L’idrogeno è una fonte di energia rinnovabile e sostenibile. Si tratta dell’elemento più diffuso nell’universo e, sebbene non sia presente sulla terra nella sua forma elementare, può essere ottenuto dall’acqua tramite elettrolisi. Questo aspetto presenta un ulteriore vantaggio in termini di utilizzo di energia “time sensitive”, come ad esempio quella ottenuta tramite pannelli solari, e della successiva riconversione in energia elettrica tramite il processo di elettrolisi per la produzione di idrogeno.

Il progetto dell’università di Delft, decisamente innovativo, è costituito essenzialmente da un meccanismo a pedali con moto oscillatorio. Per ottimizzare il progetto è stato adottato un approccio integrato, con l’applicazione di conoscenze prese in prestito da un’ampia gamma di discipline.

Al team vincente del Politecnico di Madrid verrà assegnato il primo premio, ossia 10.000 euro di finanziamento a sostegno della ricerca scientifica, mentre i due team secondi classificati riceveranno un notebook top di gamma.

BootCamp beta scadrà entro Dicembre

BootCamp è un software utilizzato da Apple per poter installare Windows su computer Mac.
Il software partiziona il disco in due parti:una con Tiger ed una con Xp o Vista.
